Designed for the Kips Bay Dallas Show House 2024, The Whimsical Drawing Room is our vibrant reimagining of classic American design—infused with bold color, layered texture, and a touch of the unexpected. We wanted to create a space that felt rooted in tradition yet entirely fresh, where luxury interior design meets playful storytelling.
At the heart of the room is a custom hand-painted mural by Gracie Studio, a lush canvas of blues, greens, and earthy neutrals that sets a serene but energetic tone. Smoky teal millwork and intricate trim work ground the space with richness and depth, while the ceiling—draped in couture fabric inspired by Ancient Greek geometry—adds a sense of architectural drama and whimsy.
Every material was chosen to evoke comfort and sophistication: satin-striped upholstery, plush mohair, crisp linen. From the curated case goods to bold abstract art, the room tells a layered story—one that merges eclectic luxury interiors with modern artistry. It’s a space meant for conversation, celebration, and curiosity.
