The Mesa Project

Tesuque, New Mexico

About the Project

Set against the dramatic beauty of Tesuque’s high desert landscape, this once-muted 1990s home has been reimagined into a rich, soulful retreat. Our clients came to us looking for a warm and inviting Southwest escape—something that felt like classic lodge style, but layered with personality and color.

While the location was spectacular, the original interiors told a different story: pale pink-washed wood, dated finishes, and a meditative minimalism that lacked warmth. We saw the potential immediately and set out to transform the home into something deeply personal and alive with character.

Working with a bold yet balanced palette of deep reds, mustard yellows, earthy blues, and vibrant greens, we infused the space with energy and warmth. Classic patterns meet contemporary graphics, while florals and folk-inspired prints add unexpected softness. The result is a home that honors traditional Southwest design but feels entirely fresh—colorful, cozy, and unmistakably full of life.
